Alright, Tigers! Sweep the Indians so I don't have to worry the next time you lose five games in a row.

Are you ready for a mind blow? At the time of this writing, the Royals are closer to the playoffs (5.0 games back in the Wild Card race), than the Yankees are (7.0 games back in the Wild Card race).

Yeah! 7.0 game lead in the AL Central. And even a funny gif too. Cabby's great when he's not a raging alcoholic.

So, the Rangers have claimed Alex Rios off of waivers, but a trade is unlikely. We need Rios, he can replace Nelson Cruz.

Breaking: The Texas Rangers have acquired Alex Rios for Leury Garcia.

Yu Darvish throws a perfect game into the 6th until it was broken up by a controversial two out walk when the ump call an obvious strike 3 a ball. He then ejected AJ Pierzynski for no good reaosn. Darvish would flirt with a no-no in the 8th until Carlos Corporon hits a one-out home run. Yu Darvish would strike out 15 batters (new record), walk one batter, give up one hit, and give up one run as the Rangers beat the Astros 2-1.

Congratulations to Ichiro Suzuki for getting his 4,000th career base hit.

I think it's going to be a nailbitter, but I think the A's will prevail and Texas fans will watch anxiously as their fears of repeating 2012 return. It certainly helps the A's that they have seven games against the Twins and four against the Astros coming up, while Texas has to battle the Pirates (who would have guessed that would be a problem?) and the Rays.

Max Scherzer has been given his second loss as he goes 19-2 when the Red Sox beat the Tigers 2-1.

Yusimero Petit was a strike away from pitching a perfect game. But with a full count, Endy Chavez hits a ball near a diving Hunter Pence to ruin it. The Giants beat the D-Backs 3-0.

does anyone here think the Dodgers have a right to mess around in the opponents pool? I mean I'm on the Dodgers side on this one but…

AL Wild Card: Tampa Bay is 1/2 a game ahead of Cleveland for the first wild card spot. Cleveland is 1 1/2 games ahead of Texas for the second wild card spot.
NL West: Los Angeles has clinched the division.
NL Central: St. Louis has clinched a playoff spot and have a 2 game lead over Pittsburgh and a 3 game lead over Cincinnati.

The Reds and the Pirates are going to the playoffs while the Cardinals reduce their magic number to 4 while maintaining a two game lead after a 4-3 victory over the Nationals. In the American League, Alex Rios hits for the cycle and Derek Holland pitches a six hit complete game shutout as the Rangers beat the Astros 12-0 in order to stay just one game behind the Cleveland Indians for the 2nd Wild Card spot. Meanwhile, the Detroit Tigers choke late in the game as they lose 4-3 to the Twins in extra innings thus keeping their magic number at 2.

Pirates finally clinch!!

I'm pretty much done with the season until playoffs. Peace off sucka!

The Detroit Tigers clinched a playoff birth and reduced their magic number to just one with a 4-2 win over the Minnesota Twins. The Texas Rangers stay alive by beating the Astros 3-2 which included a home run by Adrian Beltre and nine strikeouts by Yu Darvish. The Baltimore Orioles are officially eliminated from playoff contention with a 3-2 loss from the Blue Jays. The Tampa Bay Rays keep the wild card lead with a 7-0 win over the Yankees. The Kansas City Royals lost 4-0 to the Mariners. The big news in the American League is the Cleveland Indians walking off in a 5-4 victory over the White Sox when Jason Giambi became the oldest player to hit a walk-off home run. The Rays have a one game lead over the Indians for the first WC spot while the Indians have a one game lead over the Rangers for the second WC spot.

Last night, Michael Wacha was an out away from pitching a no hitter against the Washington Nationals, but Ryan Zimmerman reached on an infield hit thus breaking up the no-no. The Cardinals would beat the Nationals 2-0 and reduced their magic number to three. The Cincinnati Reds lost to the Mets 4-2 while the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Cubs 8-2. The Pirates currently have a one game lead over the Reds for the first WC spot.

Yeah, Tigers clinch the AL Central for the third straight year. I really hope they rest Cabrera now. Sure it'd be great to go after home-field advantage, but that's worthless if you're main hitter can only wobble around uselessly. Didn't the 2011 ALCS teach them anything?

The Detroit Tigers have clinched their third consecutive AL Central Division Title in a row after beating the Twins 1-0. Max Scherzer gets his 21st win of the year. The Boston Red Sox gain another game over the Oakland Athletics for the best record in the AL after the Red Sox beat the Rockies 15-5 and the A's lost to the Angels 3-1. The Wild Card is still wild as we are now down to three teams. The New York Yankees were eliminated after losing 8-3 to the Tampa Bay Rays. The Kansas City Royals were also eliminated after losing 6-0 to the Mariners. The Cleveland Indians continue their dominance as they beat the White Sox 7-2 and reduced their magic number to four. However, the Texas Rangers are still alive as they beat the Astros 7-3. The Rays still have a one game lead over the Indians for the first WC spot while the Indians still have a one game lead over the Rangers for the second WC spot.

The St. Louis Cardinals reduced their magic number in the NL Central to one after they beat the Nationals 4-1. The Pittsburgh Pirates lost to the Cubs 4-2 to help reduce that magic number. The Cincinnati Reds lost to the Mets 1-0. The Cardinals need either a win or a Pirates loss to clinch the NL Central Division, but they'll have to wait until tomorrow. Meanwhile, the Pirates and the Reds will play each other over the weekend to determine who would host the NL Wild Card Game. The Pirates currently have a one game lead over the Reds for the first WC spot. The Cardinals also stay one game above the Braves for the best record in the NL after the Braves lost to the Brewers 4-0.

Last night was a big night for the AL Wild Card race. The Tampa Bay Rays beat the Yankees 4-0 as Mariano Rivera made his final home appearance of his career. The Cleveland Indians beat the Twins 6-5, but it wasn't easy. Chris Perez entered the bottom of the 9th with a 6-1 lead, but he gave up four runs including a two-run homer as he could not get the job finished. The Texas Rangers beat the Angels 6-5 with a pinch hit walk off home run by Jurickson Profar. The Rangers played sloppy ball last night as they committed four errors in one inning. Currently, the Rays have a one game lead over the Indians for the first wild card spot while the Indians currently have a one game lead over the Rangers for the second wild card spot.

In the National League, the Atlanta Braves beat the Phillies 7-1 to tie the St. Louis Cardinals for the best record in the NL. The Cardinals can clinch their division with a win or a Pirates loss.

As we enter into the final day of the regular season, here is the remaining playoff scenarios.

AL Wild Card: Cleveland has a one game lead over Texas and Tampa Bay for the 1st WC while Texas and Tampa Bay are tied for the 2nd WC. If we have a three way tie after tomorrow, then Tampa Bay will play a game in Cleveland on Monday. The winner of that game will win the 1st WC while the loser will play in Texas for the 2nd WC on Tuesday. Cleveland needs a win and either a loss from Texas or Tampa Bay to clinch a WC. Texas needs a win and a Tampa Bay loss to clinch a WC. Tampa Bay needs a win and a Texas loss to clinch a WC.

AL Homefield Advantage: Boston has already clinched the best record in the AL when Oakland lost to Seattle 7-5 today. Boston will host the WC game winner in the ALDS. Oakland has already clinched homefield advantage in the ALDS when Detroit lost to Miami 2-1 today. Oakland will host Detroit in the ALDS.

NL Wild Card: Because Pittsburgh won the final regular season series with Cincinnati with an 8-3 victory, Pittsburgh will host the NL Wild Card game against Cincinnati on Tuesday.

NL Homefield Advantage: St. Louis currently has a one game lead over Atlanta for the best record in the NL after St. Louis beat Chicago 6-2 while Atlanta lost to Philadelphia 5-4. If St. Louis wins or Atlanta losses tomorrow, then St. Louis will host the WC game winner in the NLDS while Atlanta will host Los Angeles in the NLDS. If there is a tie between St. Louis and Atlanta, then Atlanta will clinch the best record in the NL because they beat St. Louis 4-3 in the season series.

Damn, this is gonna be a good postseason. On an unrelated note, has anyone here ever heard of the Atlantic League? They're not affiliated with the MLB in any way, but they're generally considered to be a "quadruple-A" league. Anyway, the Long Island Ducks won their third Atlantic League championship over the Somerset Patriots a few days ago.

It was their second in a row, and their third in nine years. They were formed in 2000. They've missed the playoffs only once in nine years. I could see the Ducks becoming a Long Island team for the MLB. You know, kinda like the Islanders in the NHL.

Excellent, Tigers. Gaining home-field advantage in your 3-2 win tonight was great. Scherzer was great and Colon's (he he he) rough first inning set the pace for the game. Now, Justin "give up three home runs to the same batter in the WS" Verlander, don't screw everything up.
