tbh this one of the scariest parts of cancel culture. Not only you lose your job before any chance for a proper investigation, the more time the drama is going on, the less people will remain. So even if you are independent, by the time you manage to prove your innocence – thousands of your past fans have already moved on and will never learn the truth.
