My favorite Tetris story is that Pajitnov's initial idea for the tetris pieces was that they were made up of 5 blocks instead of the normal 4. The 4 pieces were simply a placeholder for testing and he planned to add a 5 block later, however he became so addicted to his own game he never had time to add that 5th block.
