Alright, let's get this started. First of all, I haven't posted here in a while. I browse around occasionally, but the last time I was actively involved in writing an article was a year or two back I think.

That aside, I'm creating this thread to float a project idea for a person or subculture page. Yes, a Stephen Colbert page. There are a lot of internet events related to him already (one of which I did an article on a while back), but I wanted to figure out if he really has enough notability to warrant an article about him or the show. if there are derivatives, sightings, etc. of Colbert-related content on a memetic scale, then I'd like to hear about it. If he isn't really that present though, I'll probably drop this. Well, discuss. (And I mean discuss, not discus; nobody plays that anymore.)

Oh, and on an unrelated note, if anyone wants to edit my old Rally to Restore Sanity page, just request an editorship. I don't really look at it anymore, so any nutcase who wants to adopt it is free to do so.

Two Colbert submemes are Truthiness and Reality has a well known liberal bias. I don't see derivatives but they're widespread; Google reports about a million web results for each.

Truthiness is pretty big actually; it's pretty much what he is known for. The second one is a bit more obscure to me, so I might need to look into that a bit more.

Stephen Colbert is also used as a popular Reaction Gif series, so yes.

A good enough basis to go off of certainly. Wether or not it's worth doing for certain is another thing in itself. Probably worth it, he's a rather notable character on the internet and elsewhere.

It's hard to say whether or not he should have an entry, but I'm a fan so I won't mind if he gets one. I say go for it.

It might be worthy of documenting as an event that inspired internet users creativity.

The amount of Tumblr accounts dedicated to Colbert and the volume of traffic on the Stephen Colbert tag (still on Tumblr) also tend to confirm that. We can almost call his"Nation" a subculture. At least I feel that way.

Yes. Stephen Colbert pics, gifs, and video links are so common everywhere you go on the internet. Of course, a second entry for Jon Stewart should be made as well as he's just as common and the two often go together. Whenever they hold their special events, such as Restoring Sanity, the internet goes wild.

You're just pissed because they're liberal. Well guess what, just because you don't agree with their politics doesn't mean one of them doesn't have enough internet notability to have their own entry.

Stephen revealed in one of his latest epsiodes that his is officially the biggest Lord of the Rings nerd on the planet, as praised by Tolkien himself, so he is more than just another celebrity.

Alright, this just became serious business. If KYM is going to tackle something as big as Colbert, and do it right, we need to start organizing. Get out your flag pins, it's about to get all sorts of 'Merican in this thread.

Now, for some responses.

First, I only signed up for a Colbert article. If you want to make a Jon Stewart article (and I will admit we need to, badly), that should probably spin off into another thread.

Second, Colbert Nation is definitely a subculture, and we'll attach that article to the Stephen Colbert page when we finish them. Colbert Remix Challenge will also be addressed somewhere in the main Colbert article or perhaps as an event. Colbert Super PAC as an entity should also be considered in my opinion.

Specifically @Project Endo: The Rev. Sir Dr. Stephen T. Mos Def Colbert, D.F.A., Heavyweight Champion of the World✱✱ page shall be as historically accurate and relevant as possible.

You are making uncalled for assumptions about my motives. If you always assume bad faith of those who disagree with you there is no point in your participating in adult conversations.
I stated my reasons clearly in the post: There is nothing particularly noteworthy about colbert vis-a-vis internet and/or memes. Why not have a meme page about Jim Gaffigan, Dave Letterman, Jon Leibowitz, Brian Regan or Jimmy Kimmel? None of these people are salient in matters internet and meme and concomitantly none of those people are featured here. You might as well demand a profile of Colbert in Guns And Ammo magazine "just 'cause he's awesome"

I apologize for making said assumptions, but keep in mind the derisive nature of your post and your past comments have made it very clear your quite conservative, so don't blame me entirely for assuming a political motive to your conviction there shouldn't be an entry for Stephen Colbert.

As for whether or not he deserves an entry, there may not be any major internet memes associated with him, but keep in mind the fact that the his performance at the 2006 White House Correspondents' Association Dinner was a massive media sensation both on TV and the internet. It fits the definition of a viral video, and those have been documented here before.

I say just get this thing on the road. We have enough evidence already to make the page so I say go do it.

Colbert is America, and so can you.
