That dude got it wrong. He was no addicted to Coke's caffeine. It was the SUGAR. The MASSIVE amount of sugar. He may even had undiagnosed diabetes.
I had a Coke habit myself for 20 years and more. At 39, my body just gave up. I was 100lbs overweight, my vision was all blurry and I peed every five minutes. Well, surprise surprise, I won myself a type 2 diabetes. I had to quit ALL soft drinks and change my eating habits. Got sever withdrawal symptoms because of this. But I powered through. For six months, I stab myself with heavy insulin doses and I had to take some extra drug.
Then, I lost that extra 100lbs in a year, got cured of my T2 diabetes and I could quit all medication. I'm now thin, in shape, and healthy. But I keep eating right. And it's been a year and a half since I drank any soft drinks. I'm not going back.
Most people who hear this think I'm weird for it, but Coca-Cola, Dr. Pepper, and Pepsi all taste the same to me and all taste bad. Why anyone drinks any of those is beyond me. Perhaps it's not such a bad thing for me.
