It's how glorious Francophone master race counts. See, everything is normal at first. Very similar to English, just that it is in French.
You notice something weird after 16 (seize). 17 is dix-sept (literally ten-seven), 18 is dix-huit (ten-eight), 19 is dix-neuf (guess).
But then you have 20, which is vingt. And then 21 is vingt-et-un (twenty and one), 22 is vingt-deux (twenty two), and so on, and everything is back to normal.
Then you get to 70. 60 was soixante, totally normal, just the french word for sixty. But at 70, it is soixante-dix (sixty-ten). And it keeps going with sixty-eleven, sixty-twelve, and so on, until you get to 80.
80 is quatre-vingt, which is literally four-twenty, blaze it.
