I would take the lessons from Pokemon more seriously if the villains themselves, like…had better motives to begin with.
For example: Lysandre lives in a very peaceful, beautiful land…but he still decides "Herp derp, beauty should last forever, time to form a stupid crime syndicate and cause trouble."
Even if the lesson from that story IS worthwhile, it is tarnished for me because the path to get there is full of stupid crap, unnatural characters being evil with no relatable motives…I heard the antagonists in Black and White had a good story though. ._.
Anywho…ummm…If the Pokemon morals start relating to real people instead of "Idealistic nutjob seeing problems where none exist and trying to kill everyone to fix said problems", then they will carry more weight for me. As it is, I just play the story to get to the inevitable legendaries.
