What I Watched / What I Expected / What I Got - Godzilla 2014

I couldn't agree more. I expected a dark, mature remake fitting of the original masterpiece. What I got was a dark, awesome kaiju throwdown with some shallow human characters.

In other words, a decent amount of the Godzilla movies made after the original. Seriously this wasn't anything new, and given I grew up on those ones more than the original this movie reminded me a lot of the Godzilla I grew up with.

I will say that the !SPOILERS! death of Bryan Cranston's character so early in the movie was a shock, since he was one of the more interesting human characters in the film. !SPOILERS!
