The point is not to keep politics from games or other pieces of art, it is to keep them as far away from games journalism as possible, especially when those politics are being treated as being on the same playing field as any other reviews/interviews/whatever that is free of such things.
If people want to talk about the politics of gaming then that's perfectly fine, but to have these discussions allowed in pieces that review games or give reasons why a consumer should or should not buy a product is unacceptable and allows for the personal biases of the writer/editor to influence who knows how many consumers and their wallets.
