A few weeks ago she was going on about how people should be allowed to express their opinions, even if they were political in nature. Basically, hiding harmful actions behind statements that seem generally agreeable.
These people want to write about whatever they want and be respected for it. A critic will always be secondary to the work he or she critiques. This point seems to be lost on many.
Oh yeah, because a movie critic would totally recommend the readers to watch a movie that sucked if he got paid or a gastronomic critic would totally recommend that run down restaurant with worse sanitary conditions than half of nigeria if he got bribed. You know what happens to critics like that? They get ignored and shunned for being obvious sell outs and not helping the readers, which is what a critic should do, not inflate their own egos and pockets.
