I know a lot of people have made the joke before me, but I'm not exactly kidding. They treat Aerith's death as the most tragic, life-changing event, which then would trigger the obsession with sadness and angst on videogames (among other stuff)…when they live in a world where you can resurrect people from such things! How can you try and pull off a dramatic death and subsequent themes of grieving, acceptance and such when you live in a world where this kind of deaths can be solved!?

I mean, yeah, I know the resurrections maybe don't always work, or maybe it doesn't stop certain ways of dying, but it's not like it's not worth a try. After all, if you had the ways to prevent or solve a problem that endangers someone's life, like an illness, a wildfire or a work-related accident, wouldn't you use it to do so?!?

Downvote me if you want, but it's my opinion. I'd love, however, to see a FF game (or any other sort of game) where the mechanics and limitations of the Phoenix DownWright and health potions or such are explored and discussed, just to deconstruct something. Next to angsty stories, I know you gamers love that crud…
