In case nobody wants to google it, the stuff in that pair of containers is the bread and wine used in a Christian sacrament called the Holy Communion.
Both the bread and the wine come in a small amount, which may be why it looks kind of weird to those who haven't had the sacrament. And as someone else mentioned, it is not restricted to the Catholic church; Lutherans for example have this sacrament as well.
