Actually, the way we think dinossaurs look right now is, at best, educated guesses, Sure, we have gone a long way, but is improbable that we will ever know how the fuck they looked, and it's even more probable that if we do, we find that a lot of them didn't look as scary as we thought, due to the "Shrink wrapping syndrome" (google that).
If you don't know: Shrink-wrapped Dinosaur Syndrome is the tendency for dinosaur artists to basically just draw the dinosaur as being its skeleton and muscular system wrapped in scales. If this doesn't seem odd, here's that same logic applied to a swan skeleton:
