I know he doesn't count as a prince, but was nobody else reminded of Gaston? The whole reason Gaston is such a fantastic villain (other than the incredible hammyness) was because Gaston is the character that we would normally expect to be the hero and love interest in a Disney movie, but in that movie was painted in an entirely different light. Don't tell me a story of a handsome huntsman saving the town beauty from a horrible beast in a castle doesn't sound like an actual Disney movie. So basically Disney has been self aware since like 1991.
The concept may have already existed, but what I really admire is that Hans took this concept and completely made it his own, taking it a step further by fooling the audience (for the most part) as well as the characters.
