Here in the Philippines, we have a mythological creature known as the "manananggal." It's a creature that can severe its body into two. The upper portion of the body sprouts wings and flies around looking for victims, while the lower part walks around aimlessly. The lower half is its weakness since it's defenseless. You pour salt on it then the manananggal dies :D
