That's a fair point, but it is kind of bullsh!t for the "Land of the Free" to value it's government's privacy over that of it's citizens.

Usually it's not things that are wrong that we try to keep secret. It's about things that might ruin someone's life. Strange fetishes, behaviors, some diseases, weird communities – these are things people do all around the world and we try to keep secret because people we know would think about us differently, maybe even hostile. What would you think about your neighbor if you knew he has poop fetish? I understand that government is interested in out secrets, because some are actually dangerous and/or wrong, like pedophilia or terrorism, but I highly doubt this is enough argument to give them power to access everything we know and have. Especially because someone could abuse that power and disclose our strange secrets to world.
