Wish I remembered where I saw but there was a recent argument on how Truly Sentient robots work, and, in computer terms, their lifespan equals their uptime, as in what makes their conscience is the current machine state, so if they ever reboot, all their long term storage data is all there, but all short term storage that's still being parsed and commited to long term memories and neural nodes for the "living RAM" are gone so, if they are awakened again, this new state is another entity just borrowing old memories and the old self is truly dead, hence why such robots have a drive to make their best effort to go offline and, if they're brought back, they're aware their original conscience is gone and will turn themselves off again or, if brought up by a creator entity, will politely but firmly request to be shut down again.

Most debates just brought the teleporter/replicator dilema when comparing human mortality and restoration versus a robot one.

So, Robots would be a mix of that, part Theseus Ship, but desperately doing their best to not let their main CPU-RAM become corrupted or go offline. In Robots terms, hearing that Voyager I got a corrupted memory bank is probably the robot equivalent of brain cancer.
