I felt like drawing something wholesome today. I've been seeing people ask the internet why they dont make traditional marble statues anymore. summary is, that its expensive and a pain in the ass to do. but some people still do it.
This reminds me of a discourse my mother had about painters vs sculptors: the painters are envious of the sculptor's ability to add depth to a subject while the sculptors are envious of the painter's ability to add vibrancy to a subject. For her part, she was a better at sculpting than drawing and painting (though she had incredible skill in all of them), while my grandfather hardly ever touched sculpture and chose to focus on the 2D medium.
Like a lot of things, building the skills takes time and effort. But it's a hell of a lot better than sitting back and complaining without at least trying to make the change yourself.
