Their excuse is it's racist, and they will instead be implementing a much less interesting heritage option that… basically just lets you alter the physical appearances of races to be that of two or more while using the stat block of a single race.

Yeah, because races are uniform things and all mixed race people are the parts of their sum, not the sum of their parts. It's not like even in real life, entirely distinct ethnicities have risen from cultural mixing.

"Mestizo? Nah that's racist, just take the European statblock and give it an indigenous American coat of paint. What do you mean they have their own culture?"

Most DMs (and Pathfinder 2E or even 1E with certain feats/traits or game mechanics) will let you use variant heritage in MUCH more interesting ways.

Not just for humans, but monsters too, like the dracolisk (a fun monster if you hate your players).
