Theyve gone after other companies and media in the past for it so being as distanced as possible seems like a good bet for a studio as small as theirs whos already gone through a decades worth of stupid bullshit.

I could swear there's a fair amount of games I've played where they put crosses on medkits, not specifically red, they're usually white if the medkit is red, but people usually see it as "healing item". Medic from TF2 has red crosses as his class symbol if he's on RED team, and nobody seems to have said a thing there.
