Speaking as a socialist, these kinds of terminally online leftists are bewildering and frankly embarrassing. They're so fixated on "America bad" that they're willing to go to bat for any country that goes against U.S. interests, regardless of how reprehensible that country's government may be.

Yeah, we have our crazies too. As dumb as horseshoe theory is, these guys give the concept proof. I think a significant portion of us are just damn tired of war. We spent 20 years on "The War on Terror" after funding the Taliban and supporting Saddam Hussein (this is what Political Scientists call Blowback), which should have ended after we ousted Saddam and killed Bin'Laden (which would have lasted 10 years of the 20). Now that it's over, we have the extreme risk of another one? Come on!

However, if the war is justifiable, such as defending a fledgling Democracy against an imperialist Fascist superpower, that's a better investment of our bloated 800 billion dollar defense budget than spending two decades on a hole we dug ourselves lol.

Just some examples of past wars, WW2 was probably the most justified war of the 20th century [gestures broadly at everything]. Korean War was an effect of Imperial Japan losing their claim, it lasted "only" 3 years, and the world gained a free nation, so I'd count it as justified. Vietnam was not justified (especially since we gained no ground and pulled out, so we lost the war and wasted funds). Everything beyond this point was CIA puppetmaster'ing behind the scenes and sewing discord which led to a bunch of bullshit we have to deal with today. Not justified.

If Ukraine-Russia war comes to that, probably justified.
