The thing that bothers me most about these live action remakes is the implication that the IP is finally "legitimate" now. It's just one more example of the grossly inaccurate "animation is for kids" stereotype that persists in popular culture.

At this point, I am convinced that these live actions are just today's elaborate tax reliefs like that Mario Bros. movie was back then. That is the only logical explanation of why they keep doing it even after consecutive commercial flops.
