Every system oppresses the lower classes. You cannot stop humanities will to better their personal condition over other humans. Power corrupts those even with the best intentions. The question is what system is the least susceptible to corruption and best allows the lower class to bounce back on their own. Edited capitalism and the market place of ideas is the best option we have.
The problem is that not everyone can win the game. In fact one of the "features" of a free market is that businesses can fail to allow others to thrive.
The idea that misery can be erradicated if wishful thinking, someone is always going to get the short end of the stick. You can try to minimize it, sure, but it will never be zero.
