Film history fact: this is the iconic final shot from the seminal 1903 film The Great Train Robbery, which was an extremely early example of a film with actual editing and multiple scenes. This final shot was unusual in not serving any story purpose, but rather was there to add impact and immersion in a time when moving pictures were still very novel.

(And if I had to be picky, this isn't Billy the Kid at all, but simply an unnamed outlaw. The film was inspired by a real-life train robbery perpetrated by Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.)
