It's shit like this that made me this week seriously considering making a hardcopy (as in, physical paper) of anything important – for stuff that can't obviously fit on paper, they will serve as a quite literal paper trail to find those back. I mean, if they could save the name, maybe even the link so you could search for the metadata, it'd be something. Nope, if a video is gone, sorry nothing.

Online services might die or restrict use of their services (per Youtube TOS, then can fuck your entire Google Suite because of a shitpost on YT comments);

Hard drives might die;

People perusing CD and DVD archives might find they were victim of disc rot or Sony rot (some bullshit thing about DVD-R vs. DVD+R, rendering them unreadable) and decent readers getting harder to get by the day;

Gnomes take your thumb drives away;

Yet despite all of this many people still have important paper documents such as their original birth certificate in readable condition.
