To this day I swear my first playthrough of Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes was "cursed" because it seemed like every damn time a cutscene happened I'd either be called away by my parents or the phone would ring. It was the biggest reason why I did another playthrough immediately after (in addition to wanting to see the alternate ending).

It's also one of the biggest reasons why it bugs the crap out of me when a single player game has no pause function during cutscenes (meanwhile Kingdom Hearts 1 on the PS2 had the opposite problem of "you can pause but you can't skip," which is one reason why I think the HD version is superior just thanks to certain quality of life improvements).

Let's just remember that there was a time where almost every game wouldn't let you pause and pressing any button would instantly skip the cutscene.
Fuck that period of time.
