The more I think about this scene, the more I feel like the Avatar's role in this game was originally meant for Tails. I mean, the Avatar had a few moments throughout where he had to gather his courage. ("Don't let your fear own you!")

Imagine how cool it would've been if Tails was the one who stopped the phantom sun at Imperial Tower.
