Yep, it was a single issue comic in the late 1990s- so the US didn’t have much awareness of Jojo outside of the OVA and the Capcom fighter.
That main guy has a stand that looks like a cross between Star Platinum and the Hulk; there’s a black guy whose stand is basically Magicians Red in a mecha; the main villain Botha has a few physical similarities to Dio; there’s a character named JOSEPH; oh and the main fight in the only issue is a direct ripoff of N’Doul. As in its a blind guy who controls a puddle of blood from a long distance by hearing the ground through his cane, and Jota-I mean Thomas Diesel and a dog go and track him down and the final punch looks exactly like how Star Platinum beat N’Doul- a punch while dodging the liquid stand.
They even go for Araki accuracy by killing the dog!
