You've never been to a wedding? This is the male equivalent of the bouquet toss: The garter toss. The groom reaches under the bride's dress and removes a garter from her leg*, which he then tosses over his shoulder. The contrast is quite funny: while a typical bouquet toss involves all the single women jumping in a pile and wrestling for the bouquet, the typical garter toss involves all the single men standing awkwardly in a group until the garter comes flying at them, at which time they tend to scatter.

*There's an element of it that's a bit naughty, too, as usually the groom gives the group of guys behind him a peek under his bride's dress in the process. My own wife discreetly put a garter on her ankle, and made it clear that I wasn't to go looking further.
